Calendula is uplifting and joyful while also acting as a potent winter immune tonic. It’s also known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant components which may help to ease muscle fatigue, help the lymphatic system function efficiently and support the circulatory system. Ruled by the Sun Calendula brings in warmth and disperses dampness, stagnation, and emotional patterns that inhibit deep connections with ourself and those around us.

Ruled by Venus Nootka Rose keeps our heart soft while allowing us to move through emotions and find love in even the most unexpected places. Rose acts as a nervine. Nervines are known for their abilities to calm and relax the nervous system. Rose has a particularly strong impact upon the heart as an organ - relieving emotional as well as physical tension.

Borage is affiliated with courage and comfort to the heart, fighting off self criticism. As an adaptogen, Borage has an affinity for the nervous system and may help soothe nervous exhaustion through supporting the endocrine and immune systems. David Hoffman states that “Borage acts as a restorative agent on the adrenal cortex, which means that it will revive and renew the adrenal glands after a medical treatment with cortisone or steroids.”
